Hess' Law
ΔHtotal = ΔH1 + ΔH2 +ΔH3 ...
Change in enthalpy of a reaction (ΔH) is the same regardless of
the pathway used to reach the products. When you
click "New
Problem" a
reaction set with a single missing enthalpy will be displayed. Calculate
the needed enthalpy using Hess' law, enter it in the cell and click
the "Check
Answer" button.
Take your time to organize the reactions provided and determine the
correct steps for reacting the require products. Sample problems are
randomly generated when you press the "New
Problem" button.
If you are unsatified with any of the problems click the "New
Problem" button
at any time.
- To begin, click "New Problem" and a question
will appear to the right of the button.
- IMPORTANT: Put the correct value into the answer
cell and click "Check Answer."
- The results on the problem and a running total
will appear in the second table.
- If you miss a problem three (3) times, clicking "Show
Answer" will display the complete solution and you will no longer
be able submit an answer for that problem. If you click "Show Answer"
prior to answering incorrectly three times the answer will NOT be
displayed.
