Using Heats of Formation
ΔHrxn=ΣΔHf(products)-ΣΔHf(reactants)
One of the applications of Hess' Law is the use of heats of formation
to determine reaction enthalpies. This page provides exercises in that
area. When "New Problem" is pressed, a reaction and a table
of heats of formation will be displayed. Use the data provided to determine
the enthalpy for the reaction. Enter it in the answer cell and press "Check
Answer". Results are displayed in the table.
- All heats are in kJ.
- Enter only the number in the answer cell. Do not try to enter
dimensions. Pay close attention to the signs.
- Pressing the "Show Answer" button will cause the
solution to appear and you will no longer be able to submit
an answer for that problem.
